The Peel’s population growth has significantly exceeded that of WA and Australia over the past 20 years and will grow by 58.8% from 2016 to 2031. Over the same period Western Australia’s population will grow by 27% and Australia’s by 29.5%.
The Peel region has a significantly higher percentage of its population aged over 50 than Western Australia. In 2016 the median age of Peel’s population was 41 compared to 36 for Western Australia and 37 for Australia.

The Peel’s population centre is the Shire of Mandurah, the largest regional city in WA, while the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale remains the fastest growing Local Government Area in WA (and the third fastest in Australia, with population growth of 5.9% in 2019.
